Lachlan Fitgibbon, 100n80s late season signing, is all that stands between the Dingoes, and the First Crack Grand Final trophy.
On a drama filled day of action, there has been some heroes and villains on both teams. Nick Cotric was brought into the side at the expense of Jamayne Isaako, when he should have been in for team mate Joey Leilua. Clarkson was asked after the Raiders victory if he felt he could win it, his response was very much what everyone was thinking “well, now we know why he went by BJ…. He sucks”.
Coach Darren Bevan held a very similar response when asked of Jordan Rapana he was shit today, the pair of them were”. “we’re still in the driver’s seat, but theres still a lot of football to be played”. Captain Cook was solid, but far from his best. Angus Crichton was outstanding , amassing more than his projected total. Dingoes Adam Reynolds and Cody Walker both getting above their projected totals, despite a second half collapse in the nation’s capital.
Game 2 of Super Saturday didn’t involve many players, yet has still played a crucial roll in how this Grand Final will end. Dingo Cameron Smith was under an injury cloud all week, but he put an injury concerns to the side to amass a score of 70, and blow a few penalties to get his beloved Storm home once again. 100n80s Cameron Munster managed to get a 4 pointer, yet fell a tad short of his projected. Ryan James….. the less said the better.
Game 3 has all the fireworks . Blake Ferguson scored the opening try, then was seemingly invisible for the remainder of the game. Dingoes Boyd Cordner and James Tedesco were stars, carrying the Dingoes as Latrell Mitchell had an awful night, ending up in the sin bin and only contributing 20 points. At one stage, he was on 0.
Jamayne Isaako scored a healthy 69 points, yet despite his goal kicking ability, was dropped at the 11th hour, meaning if 100n80 are to lose this match, Coach Clarkson only has himself to blame for the technical error.
Final player in the Grand Final is Fitzgibbon. Coach Bevan holds a 46 point lead, and according to the guru Darren Bevan, Lachlan Fitzgibbons lowest score in 2018 has been 35, yet his average is just shy of 64. When asked of his thoughts on his teams final score, Bevan was fence sitting “its not a bad total, I’d have liked to crack the 900 at least. But its squeaky bum time now I’m aware of how consistent Fitzy has been”.
Coach Clarkson was given the final say, and it’s pretty much as expected “ I have all the faith in Lachlan, he wouldn’t have started if I didn’t, but let’s be honest when I put Nick Cotric in, I made a massive error with who I hooked”.
This ones gone down to the wire, Dingoes are now hoping for a poor performance or injury. The final match kicks off at 2pm Australian time.
